I was born and raised in the Philippines as a child
of missionaries. I count it my privilege to have been raised by a
strong faith and two cultures. Growing up in a third-world country
I felt a deep sadness about the poverty and hurt that was going on
around me. I always found the tropical sky to be a reflection of
the intense beauty that pervaded all of the hurt. It was during my
childhood tht I learned to draw and paint. It was during my
college years that I learned I could use art to communicate my feelings
on canvas. I had to go through a tough adjustment moving from such
a land of little to a land of much. One of the greatest comforts
to my heart was to look at the Texas skies and see how similar the beauty
is even halfway around the world. I graduated from Dallas Baptist
University in 1998, Magna Cum Laude, with a BA in Fine Arts. I
currently live in Garland Texas with my husband of four years, Kendrick,
and my daughter, Myla, who was born March 24th, 2005.
My work deals with beauty. The sky is one of
my greatest inspirations for beauty. It is so quietly emotional
and powerful. Letting the light and color speak is something I
strive to do with my work. The work is highly saturated as I truly
love color and find that Texas burns away the land to feed the
skies. I leave a little space for the lad so that the viewer has a
"Lift off" to the open sky. I have currently finished a
five piece series, "Solas of the Reformation" for Dallas Theological
Seminary. I work on commission and have been able to have my sky
paintings in several private collections as well as offices. Most
recently, Dallas Eye Care Associates L.P.
