Dane Ellsworth  

The idea of expressing through visual means started early for Dane Ellsworth. He grew up the only child of an itinerant sign painter, living in and passing through many states before graduating from high school. The love of nature and the western landscape grew as his father was teaching how to mix colors and do basic drawing. Eventually Dane attended the Art Students League in New York. He studied illustration and impressionistic theory. He went on to study with many other talented artists including Frank C. McCarthy.

Though his subjects can range from whimsical to nostalgic, almost always his paintings exude an underlying sense of peace and serenity as he is conscious of putting forth the positive in a sometimes negative world. Not quite comfortable in the high tech age, he enjoys frontier history and the bygone days.
